My Story

Chinese Medicine Mixed Natural Herbs

My first encounter with Chinese herbal medicine was when I was merely 6 months old. To my mother’s dismay, it was evident that I was not born a healthy and robust baby. As a normal baby is continuously being nourished by the vital nutrition of milk, I on the contrary could not tolerate any. Apparently, I was born with a defective stomach that did not allow me to feed on anything as I would instantaneously regurgitate the fluids back up. Months went by and it was clear that malnutrition became an issue. During this period, many medical professionals of both Western medicine and Chinese medicine were consulted with but the results were not that significant.

My weak health lead me to develop the Whooping cough or Pertussis soon after. This upper respiratory tract infection causes uncontrollable and violent coughing causing difficulty in breathing. It is a serious disease that can cause permanent disability in infants and even death. To make matters worse, I was also suffering from one of its complications; convulsions/seizures.

The combination of the above further destroyed my immune system and consequently, my other organs began to suffer. Around the same time as the Whooping cough, findings from tests also confirmed splenomegaly (enlargement of the spleen.) Years later, I became an asthma sufferer with having to make trips to the hospital as a result of asthma attacks. I was then put on an intensive course of Chinese herbal medicine by my mother (whom also practices Chinese medicine.) This improved my condition so effectively within a short time that I never needed to resort to a Ventolin puffer ever since.

Unfortunately, some years later into my childhood, I fought many other battles which included: myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle), chronic atrophic gastritis (chronic inflammation of the stomach mucosa) just to name a few.

As a result of my suffering, I developed the understanding of the basic philosophy of Chinese medicine from an early age, its diagnostics and applied my knowledge in keeping my health in balance. By the time I was in high school, I had learnt how to self-administer Chinese herbal medicine.

Throughout my adolescent years, I realised just how much the Australian society needed Chinese Medicine simply because there were so many illnesses that Western medicine failed to explain and treat. Being raised by my mother, I was constantly exposed to the world of Chinese medicine and since I already gained some knowledge of it, I decided to take my fascination to the next level and officially immerse myself with Chinese Medicine. I enrolled in RMIT University to study Bachelor of Chinese Medicine and Human Biology and made the commitment to help many others who are struggling with their health.
